Hey friends! We have officially made it to fall, my favorite time of year. That means only one thing for the home, NEW DECOR. I don't think anything makes me happier than fall. Is there somewhere that you can live where it is fall all year? If so, sign me up. I suppose that means two things actually, new decor and a blog post. Welcome to my living room.
This year, I wanted to go in different direction with my color palette. Initially, I wanted to use only shades of browns and whites, but I couldn't resist the orange pumpkins and leaves. Darn it Micheal's. There were just too many good options and the half off sale was way too enticing. The little pumpkins that I painted on the piece of reclaimed wood last year inspired my color choice, before the orange snuck it's way in. I envisioned muted colors to contrast the stark white. I love how it turned out. This room looks so completely different than last year, but I love that it is evolving.
When I started my decor shopping, I knew for certain that I wanted white pumpkins. I got those first and then I ran across the orange leaves and built the theme from there. When I found the huge orange pumpkins, I couldn't put them down. I knew it was meant to be. Ha.
I wanted to keep the sticks that you may have seen in previous posts. I just can't give them up. if you didn't already know, (I think I may have mentioned it once or twice, or every single post) I can't live without raw wood in my decor. I don't know what it is that I love about it so much. But it truly warms my heart to see it. Keeping with that love of wood, I added in the initial round that we make at Signs of Hope. I like that it brings the same shape of the baskets on the other wall.
I think now that we have gotten rid of the white shag rug, I have busied up the rest of the room to compensate for the bareness of the floor. I will replace the the rug, I just haven't found the perfect fit just yet. There is one at Restoration Hardware that is calling my name. The white rug with all of the white furniture was a bit much. Not to mention that my cats believed that the rug was their designated hair ball relieving location. They never failed to miss it and cleaning it out of the shag was monotonous.
Well, until next time. Thank you for stopping by my home for this little living room tour.
Love always, Sarah
