Hey friends. Its officially FALL, but the decorating over here started a few weeks ago. I am not surprised though. I jump the gun on it every year. Fall refreshes my spirit. The season changes here do a terrible number to my allergies, but fall seems to affect me the least. Maybe that has something to do with my happy mood, but I LOVE fall. I love the colors and the scents. I love the pumpkins and cozy sweaters. I love scarves and the festivals. It’s such a happy time for me.
Things took a plunge into a different direction [maybe era] here. It is looking real vintage in here. I mean, I don’t know what is going on with J and I. We are both nostalgic people, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. We have both recently fallen in love with vintage things. I mean we even bought two old VCRs and a whole collection of VHS tapes. We also just got our hands on an old box t.v. and have been working to restore it. WHO are we? For a couple that loves tech as much as we do, it doesn’t really make sense that we love the vintage things so much. But here we are, neck deep in others peoples outdated junk and Duran Duran playing on our record player.
I know this look isn’t for everyone, but it is making my heart so happy. It just feels so warm and cozy in here to me. That is always my goal, no matter what direction I am taking. What is a home if it doesn’t feel cozy to you?
You may have notice a new dresser in here. Shocker, I found another abandoned beauty on the side of the road and snatched it up. I can’t make up my mind what route I want to go with it yet. I can’t decide if I should paint it, or leave it. It does need a little attention, as you can see, it is missing some drawer pulls. I was thinking that I might go with one of these Magnolia pulls (Option 1 , Option 2). What do you think?
You can see the dresser I had in here previously in THIS older post. After that post I painted it Annie Sloan Old white and then wished I would have not painted. See below. Then I found the new dresser and had to choose between the two. You see which one won.
My mother-in-law, Hope, (@signsofhope.ar See her blog here) made me love throw pillows. We both go way over board. I blame her because before her, I lived a happy (sad) little life thinking the only pillows one ever needed were bed pillows. I was wrong. One of my favorite pillows is from Tracey (@traceysfeatherednest). I am sure you have spotted the pom pom goodness all over my house. They go so well in every room in my house, just they way I like it. Be sure to check out her Etsy store.
Our booth is one of my favorite things in our home. When you live in a small space, you have to utilize every ounce of your space, and do it in a way that also saves space. One of the ways we do that in our home is this little diner booth. (It is always the eye catcher when people walk in too.) It provides what we need, while also taking up less space than a traditional table. A traditional table would have to be centered in the middle of this dining area. The chairs would be a constant hassle, and you would have to maneuver around it every time you wanted to go to the kitchen. It wouldn’t provide us with a clear walk way. It would actually waste more of the already limited space. The booth is positioned so that it will provide a clear walkway and conveniently centered under the window. If there were a traditional table, I’m really not for sure what we could do with the space around it. It would have to be wasted to allow room for the chairs to move freely. It just wouldn’t work here. Plus we have had this booth since our first apartment together and we love it. To cozy up the booth, I added throws and pillows and some regular decor. It suits us well. Plus, is it not the coolest thing ever?
I have to take a second to mention my sweet husband. A few weeks ago, he surprised me with a new bible. Not only was it the sweetest thing ever, it was the most beautiful thing ever. Look at that gem. I had previously been using an old pink study bible and I wanted to upgrade to an “adult” bible and how special is it that he surprised me with this. I love him so much. HERE is a link to the exact BIBLE.
I don’t follow every single trend, but there is one this year that I have fallen for is amber bottles. Liz Marie sure knows how to stir up inspiration in me. She started the trend this year and I love it. I am now on the hunt for more. I am pretty sure it was also her that started my love for Rae Dunn. Of course, our house is humble sized so my collections have to be much smaller because of our limited space.
Another reason I love to keep our space as cozy as possible is to keep my little buddies comfy. I love to have cozy places all over the house for my fur babies to curl up and get cozy. They are strictly inside cats, so I want them to be a comfortable as possible. I mean, they don’t seem to hate their lives anyways. Ha. Sometimes I wonder if they are more comfortable than me.
I just want to thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any questions at all. Feel free to comment below or message me.
Love always,
Sarah. <3
