Hey, loves. Do you want to know one of my favorite things about styling? It is coming up with new ways to wear something. You probablly recognize this skirt from my Christmas pictures (that I never managed to send out). It was so fun that I wanted to restyle it. It makes a great statement piece. I feel so feminine in this outfit. It is very girly, that is for sure. I am loving fun sleeves this spring, and it hasn't completely warmed up yet, so I can still get away with long sleeves. I have linked all you need to recreate this look at the bottom of this post.
On a different note, I want to chat with you about a few of the reasons that I love to blog outfits. Social media is here to stay. It is not going anywhere. There are influences everywhere you look, but something I have noticed, is that a majority of the influencers don't really seem to represent the people that I know; the people that I love. It would be great to spend gazillions of dollars every week on fabulous clothes just to wear them once. But reality is that is just not practical for most people. That is why I like to show multiple ways to wear pieces that might already be in you closet. Or, if you bought something off of my recommendation I want to open your eyes to other possibilities.
Something else that I have noticed is that there is a want for more "modest" bloggers. More-so than you think, the average woman doesn't feel comfortable showing off her body. The statistics show that most women actually prefer modesty, yet the still want to feel pretty. It is important for me to dress to attract my husband but not other men, and to represent the Lord. Those are the most important things to me. Too often beautiful is only represented by a lots of skin. I want to break that. I think that is why some women will not venture out from their sweats, yoga pants, and tees. They feel like they can't be that image of "beauty" so what is the point on even trying.
Another thing lacking is representation for curvy figures. Thankfully curves are coming back into style and there are a few girls stepping onto the scene. Yay! It has been a long time coming, but truthfully, most woman with curves do not love their bodies. That is such a shame and a horrible lie fed to women. No matter your size, I think a woman can dress in a way that flatters her. With that being said, I think it is so important to not be a just a "trend" follower, but really figure out what looks work with your body type. Not every trend will work for every body. Having a style to me is more important that being "on trend". That is just my opinion though.
I hope that I am able to represent a wider range of women through my blog. I hope to be a positive influence to girls. That is my highest hope for this blog. I strive to be modest and modern all while loving my new curves along the way. Hope you can enjoy and join along. Thank you so much for stopping by.
