Hey, lovelies. Today, I want to share with you my favorite way to style a poncho. I absolutely love ponchos. It is literally like having a little blanket with you all day. I stay cold most of the time so it is perfect for me. Since ponchos can easily be an overload of fabric, it is easy to style them in an unflattering way. The key to all of my outfits is balance, but this is especially true for ponchos. I always balance bulky items with slimming ones. For instance, if I wear a long flowy skirt I balance that with a fitted top. Otherwise, If you pair two loose items (tops and bottoms) it will hide your shape and give you the appearance of extra weight. This is probably my biggest tip to someone who says that they don't know how to pair outfits. No matter your body type, if you balance your outfit it is sure to compliment you.
This poncho is the perfect piece to demonstrate this with. I balanced the weight of the poncho with skinnies and small pumps. (This is my favorite way to wear a poncho, by the way.) The poncho is long and covers most of me so I wanted to balance that by highlighting the shape of my legs. I tied the laces of the shoes in front of my ankle to draw that attention to the bows. I think it also adds an extra feminine touch to the look.
This poncho was a gift and I believe it is from a local boutique, so I couldn't find it online anywhere. Below I have linked some ponchos that I am absolutely loving right now. The cold weather isn't quite over just yet and this is the perfect time to catch a few deals. Do you have any tips for styling ponchos? Leave me a comment if you enjoyed this post. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Love Always, Sarah
