Hello Lovelies. What a wonderful day to be alive. What a wonderful day to be thankful for all that God has given us. Isn't it though? Let me tell you a quick story about how good the Lord is. I know a bunch of people get annoyed by me talking about what all the Lord has done for me, but seriously I can not help it. I have to give credit where credit is due. I owe it all to HIM. My hope is to show you just how much he loves us. Even in times of hardship and waiting He will still provide us what we need.
I saw this scarf at Altar'd State a few months before I got. I instantly fell in love with it the moment I spotted it. At the time, I did not have the spare forty dollars to buy it, and I was super bummed about it. I loved it so much. I went back the day before Valentines Day, and guess what? I found it. This time it was on a crazy sale. I ended up paying about seven dollars for it. But, that is not the first time that has happened to me there. There was another time that I fell in love with a cream dress (posted awhile back here and here) at Altar'd State. It was one hundred and nine dollars and again, I did not have the spare cash for it. I ended up getting a month later for twenty dollars. Each time I pretty much cried because I had wanted them so badly. Each time, there was only one left. What are the odds that the dress what exactly my size? How awesome is that? The Lord saved those two pieces just for me to find. Go ahead and say it. "Yea, but How do you KNOW that the Lord did that for you?"
The answer is very simple. He said that He would clothe me, and He is.
As you know, I have a little love for fashion. I also have an extremely limited budget. Let me make something clear to all of my home town (cough, cough... Des Arc) friends. You have no clue how incredibly blessed you are to live there so cheaply. Move to Little Rock and you will know what a tight budget is. Even through having an incredibly tight budget, I have noticed something crazy. I noticed that there never seems to be a budget left over to buy really any clothes, however, I never seem to be without. I seriously rarely ever buy anything, but I somehow still have a closet full of clothes.
There is a passage that has sort of applied itself to my life, and I never really understood why until now.
Matthew 6: 25-34 25.Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?26. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
I realized that It is not me who is doing anything for me. It ALL comes from God. Most outfits that you see here on my blog are made of pieces that I did not buy or if I did buy them, I got them at discounted prices. I just try to make the best with what I have. So many things that I wear are accumulated gifts from people that the Lord used to bless me. Most of the time, those people do not even know just how much they truly are blessing me with these gifts. My mother-in-love (she's a true fashionista) has gifted me so many things that I can pretty much chalk half of my wardrobe up to her. Every time she over orders or gets something too big, she sends it my way. Her generosity is so large that words can not be formulated to give her justice. They just can not be. She is amazing. More so, God's generosity can not me measured either.
He cares so much for me to not only clothe me, but he has manages to provide me with clothes that I actually love. Guess what? His word is true. He does care enough about me to clothe me. I have always let money tear up my stomach. How am I going to afford food? How am I going to buy clothes? How am I going to get a new car? How am I going to get to go on that trip? But let me tell you something. God knows the wishes of your heart, and if it is his will, He WILL make it happen. Even when it seems impossible. Even when our budget on paper says that we can only pay bills an get a bit of groceries, we are never without. I never skip a meal. I have clothes and I have gone on two vacations now that I have yet to pay for. I think on these things every time fear and worry creep up.
I am here to tell you. All things are possible with God and He does care for you. All you have to do is trust in him. He keeps his promises. Even promises as simple as clothing and feeding you are important to Him. My favorite parts of the passage are "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" and " And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." What awesome things to think on. If you want to give the Lord a test run, trust in Him to provide these things for you. I guarantee, He will keep His word and you will not be disappointed.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by. Did you notice that I had a mini Marilyn moment? It was so windy.
