Hello Lovelies, Happy Friday! Earlier this week I had planned on pumping out some outfit posts, but I have to be honest. I caught a lazy bug, and I honestly have not gotten dressed in a solid week. That is a fact. But, I thought that this would be the perfect time to talk about some products that I am loving. Some of them are new and some are oldies but goodies. I hope this helps to clear up some of the questions I have received. A big thank you to everyone who has shown me love and support for this blog. It really means the world to me and I am having a blast doing it. On that note, I would love to hear what products you are loving. Let me know.
Makeup
My current foundation crave is the Colored Clay Liquid Foundation from Tarte. Usually (without self tanning) I use the shade light. It does not irritate my over the top sensitive skin and it lays so smoothly. It is always formulated without Parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, and gluten (all the bad stuff). Find out more about it here if you are interested. It is about forty dollars on their website, but if you watch, you can get such a better deal buying it through QVC. You also receive a brush when you purchase through HSN most of the time.
Also unintentionally from Tarte, is another favorite of mine, the Tartelette Palette. I have lived with this girl ever since I got it in February. It is the perfect palette to keep in your travel makeup bag. They are so pigmented and so smooth. The colors are just right for every day wear. You can use this for a neutral eye or a smokey eye. Its is simply perfect. You will fall in love. I think I have used Force of Nature as my transition color in every single look that I have done for the past two months.
I don't know if I will ever give this next guy up, seriously. It is a tiny but powerful little gem. The Urban Decay Eye-shadow Primer Potion is in my top five makeup staples. I have really hooded brows that cause a deep deep eye crease. I am going to venture to say that it is no longer a crease, it is a fold. I have an eye fold, there. I said it. I am telling you, that I could hide a stud earring in my eye fold. Ha This primer keeps all from budging until I decide to take it off. Without it, within an hour, eye-shadows will crease up and just be a hot mess. It really is a little potion. I even put a tiny bit underneath my eye to prevent my brighteners and concealers from creasing. If you have the same problem, I totes recommend this.
This last product is actually a tool, not a makeup; but since I simply can not do a good face without it, I think it qualifies. Ladies, you need a Beauty Blender in your life. It lays things down so smoothly and flawlessly. This product makes it extremely hard to mess up. It prevents uneven applications and harsh lines and much more. lets just say, if you put makeup on your face, you need this product. Period, end of discussion.
Skin Care and Tools
Purity Made Simple is a one step facial cleaners that cleanses, tones, and hydrates all at the same time. Who doesn't want to save some time by eliminating steps. It removes easily makeup and clears pores without having to scrub off the top layer of your skin. It is not harsh and it does not leave your face dry or flaky. My other-in-law introduced this to me (as she does with a ton of things) last year and I have not left it alone since. You can also get great deals on this through QVC.
Simple Makeup Removing Wipes are lifesavers when you just can not find the energy to do your night cleansing routine. I keep mine by my bed so that I really have no excuse. Lets face it, there are some days when getting out of bed to wash off all of your makeup is just not going to happen, especially for new busy little moms out there. Never neglect your face by sleeping with makeup on. You are stuck with the face you have so take care of it. It does not necessarily have to be this particular brand but these are just the ones that I am currently loving. It works well with my sensitive skin.
This next product is a holy grail. I have always struggled with severe dry skin. I mean the Sahara desert was named after my skin. Ha, as if. The Kelley West Microderm 360 is awesome at fighting that battle. The microdermabrasion tip technology and vacuum suction removes dead skin and leaves it so smooth. It helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles before you get them or minimizes them if you already have them. Using the tiny and medium tip on my face 1-2 times a week, I have seen a drastic improvement in black heads and the evenness of my skin. For younger skin, I would not recommend using it any more on your face more than that. Over-using it could actually cause blemishes to appear. I use the big tip for my entire body any time I am feeling dry. I use it before I self tan and when the tan is fading to help remove the remaining tan. It is a little on the pricier side, but it is worth it. You can get great deals for it on HSN here and here. I could go on and on forever about it, but if you would like to know more, just let me know. I could do a post individually about this product if you want.
Lastly, I want t mention the WaterPik Flosser. It is literally floss on steroids, only made out of water. So basically it isn't like floss. Ha. It is better. This product cleans and flosses the hardest to reach places. I leaves my mouth feeling better than leaving the dentist. I also notice big difference in my gum sensitivity. After a few weeks, my teeth quit bleeding every time I brushed them as well. It is an all around game changer for your dental health.
Hair
I get so many questions about my hair and what I do to make it stay healthy and grow so quickly, and how do I make it look so full, and the answer is not just a simple one product answer. But I will tell you my secrets in order of how I would use them, starting with one of my ride or die necessities: Moroccanoil Treatment. First off let me say that I only wash my hair once every five days. I know it may sound gross, but I promise you, your hair (if you have dry hair) needs it. The natural oils are good for it and they help it to grow. Over washing actually causes so much damage/breakage. After I wash my hair, I always use three-four pumps of this all throughout my hair, avoiding the roots and scalp. (Thinner hair may not need as much.) Then I ALWAYS let my hair air dry. The more heat you use, the more damage you will have, and ultimately the longer it will take your hair to grow out. This stuff makes my hair "really, really ridiculously good looking", and smooth and silky, and soft. It smells amazing too. If you haven't already, give this guy a try. If you do not want to bite the bullet with this, my next suggestion would be Argan oils, they work great too.
Once I am ready to style my hair, I also ALWAYS use a heat protectant. I started using CHI 44 Iron Guard in early middle school and I have used it ever since. I firmly state that you should never use a hot tool of any kind on your hair without a protectant. I must add that this one also smells great. I wish that I could give you some other options but honestly, I have never tried any others. Being so pleased with this one, I never felt the need, and I have used this product for the better half of ten years now.
On to styling. If I am doing a wavy or curly look, I spray each section of my hair with Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Hairspray. It helps hold the curls once they are styled. I also give my finished style a big once over to set it.
I use Kenra Platinum Dry Thickening Spray to add a slight texture to my hair. The great thing about this stuff is that it doesn't weigh down your hair. It makes volume teasing easier and last longer. I really like it now that I have short hair. It really amps up my messy waves look.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Oh, and don't forget to enter the book giveaway from a few posts back.
