My Not so Secret Lash "Secrets"

Hello Lovelies,

Quick announcement: The winner of my Reading list Giveaway is Lauren Douglas. (I will email you directly about your prize.) Thank you so much to all who participated in this giveaway on the blog and through my social media platforms. I am so grateful, and keep checking back for more giveaways.

So recently, I have received several questions about my lashes and I was kinda of excited to share this news. I thought lashes were old news, but I am so sorry, I stand corrected. I do not always realize that not every stalks products like I do. Ha. I have seriously loved lashes FOR-EV-ER. In high school I was still naive to thinking that mascara ads were real and that I just was not hip to putting it on right. User error, I thought. Well news flash to all of you lovelies out there who think those ads show real results. They don't, or at least very seldom. Do not be discouraged though, you can get that same look. Just do not worry about putting your bucks to the mascara, put it towards the lashes. The two images on the left show my lashes with several coats of mascara, and the ones on the right are falsies (As if I needed to explain).

Girls, do not be intimidated by falsies. They really are not a big deal. It may feel a bit weird at first, but after a few wears, you get use to it. Quit using the excuses, "oh I can't because everyone will be able to tell", or "that is too fake for me", or "It's not a special occasion". To any of those, who cares? Unless you are around a snoot, they won't be saying "Oh, I love those, what lashes are you wearing?" Most just comment on how pretty they are. But in the event that does happen, just knock of the edge with a "Thanks boo, I bought em!" Then tell her what they are. At least that works for me.

Here are a few tips for you who are thinking about giving them a try. (I do not think that you will be sorry):

  1. Start simple. Choose a lash that is not crazy long and outrageously thick. It helps cut the initial first wear intimidation. I recommend the Ardell Glamour Wispies  from the drug store. They are a great start lash.
  2. Also when first getting started, choose a lash with a thin strip until you are more comfortable applying them.  Again, the wispies are great beginning lashes.
  3. Coat your natural lashes with mascara before you apply the lashes. I like to use IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes Extensions Melted Fiber Mascara in conjunction with my falsies. It makes my natural lashes have the same look and texture as the lashes in the falsie strip. They mesh really well together. Disclaimer: I only use this mascara with falsies and never by its self. It is very thin alone. It claims to be a volumizing mascara, but it just is not, in my opinion. You do not want to use a volumizing mascara because most of the time it makes your lashes look chunky and stand out against the false ones.
  4. Let the glue get tacky before you apply them.
  5. Apply the lash to your lids, not to your natural lashes. You do want as little room as possible between the two. (This prevents ripping out your naturals)
  6. Use an eyelash curler to help blend your natural lashes and the falsies together.
  7. Use tweezers to remove excess glue buildup after each use.
  8. Use alcohol to clean them after each use.
  9. Pill boxes make great lash storage for makeup bags or travel.
  10. ALWAYS keep extra glue with you, you never know when one might just pop off. Ha. Hopefully never.
  11. If you have cats, hide them. If I leave a pair out, they will find them AND THEY WILL KILL THEM.

Here are a few of my favorite lashes.

It’s not our job to predict the future (divination is prohibited in the Torah). It is our responsibility to prepare for coming storms. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. America likewise has now become the victim of a leadership committed to everything we once abhorred.

A little unrelated beauty issue that weighs on my heart is the trouble in America these days. I encourage you to read this quote and research it. Here, I will make it easy.

With so many crazy things things going on, It is hard to not live life nervous and scared all the time. I encourage you not to do that, but I also encourage you not to sit idly by pretending that nothing is going on in our country.

I think it is so important to know what is going on around our somewhat comfortable lives and to know how to handle/prepare for it. Do you know where America stands in prophecy? Do you know The Gospel?

I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.
